Select A Fundraising Team:

How to Participate

Birdathon

May 01, 2026

Bird-a-thon is Denver Audubon’s annual fun-raiser and birding extravaganza! Whether you're in it for the thrill of spotting rare warblers or just want an excuse to go birding with your favorite people, Bird-a-thon is for everyone. It’s a month-long celebration of birds, nature, and community. While fundraising fuels our mission, participation and joy are at the heart of this event. The minimum requirement? Show up, have fun, and appreciate the amazing birds around us.

How to join our Bird-a-thon Flock:

Step 1: Register Your Team!
You'll be able to name your team (best name wins a prize!), set up a fundraising goal, upload a team photo, add a team blurb, and invite
 teammates.

Step 2: Choose Your Birding Style
Teams or individuals choose any 24-hour period in May to go birding your way! Relax in a park with friends, plan a county big day, count the birds in your own backyard, or plan a statewide ramble --- casual or competitive, it's totally up to you!

Step 3: Fun(d)-raise for Nature and Spread the Word
If you want to go for the big prizes, rally friends, family, and colleagues to support your team through peer-to-peer fundraising pages. Every dollar raised helps Denver Audubon provide education and inspiration to people of all ages. Promote your team by sharing your fundraising page and journey with friends and followers. Need help? We've got a Bird-a-thon Fundraising Toolkit full of tips and templates to get started.

Step 4: Celebrate with Us!
Follow the competition on our social media pages and win birdy prizes for achievements and fundraising milestones! Submit your photos, stories, and species counts by June 1, 2026 to be eligible for prizes. Mark your calendar for the celebration event on Sunday, June 7 at Improper City and collect your commemorative Bird-a-thon pin featuring this year's bird, the Belted Kingfisher.
